This is a one day trip starting from Rawalpindi Railway station After an hour stay at Golra Sharif the tourists entrain the safari and steam off to Taxila. Gandhara evokes a history of 5000 years. The area encompassing the valley of Peshawar, the down stretches of Hazara and the width and breadth of Rawalpindi Division witnessed the rise and fall of Buddhist civilization interspersed with the depredation of Huns and the onslaught of the Greeks led by the legendary Alexander the Great. The central point of civilization was the university established at Taxila: a long time capital of Budhist monarchs.
